Mix Tape June/July 2021

Nowadays we have playlists for our favourite songs. Last century we recorded mix tapes of our best-loved tunes to listen to on our Walkman or cassette player. While this issue isn’t about music, it’s a kind of “mix tape” containing 15 of our favourite articles and columns. Family Matters Switzerland began in print as Mothering Matters in 1994, publishing hundreds of stories in booklet form that were posted out to subscribers every two months. In 2013 we transferred our publication online and now have over 750 stories on our website. This issue takes just a few of these wonderful pieces of writing – definitely worth another look – to share with you. If you want to know just about anything about families in Switzerland, the chances are we’ve written about it, so use our search box to ask away! Wishing you and your families a wonderful summer to be filled with your own mix tape of memories.

Hugs, Andrea

P.S. Now this is what you call a mix tape (see photo below)! Check out the excellent graphic design (!) and the original name of the mix tape, “Schwarzenegger Selection,” which has nothing to do with the marvellous Arnie except for a bit of kitsch hero worship. Happily this tape still works and I have the technology to play it. There are songs by Johnny Cash, You Am I, New Order, The Cardigans and lots more; I listened to it again today; it’s a classic!
